Artist Talk: Chak Wai Leung – The Hong Kong Story

When Chak Wai Leung visited theDesk co-working and events space in Sai Ying Pun a couple of weeks ago, he mesmerised, over at least two hours, a crowd of young art enthusiasts with his photos of Hong Kong from years gone by. On Thursday March 16, we’re expecting him to mesmerise the crowds once again with a special two-hour talk on his art, his background and what our city used to be like more than half a century ago. This event is a rare opportunity to learn from one of Hong Kong’s most celebrated masters of photography. Many of Chak’s pictures date back to the 1960s and tell a story about what the city used to be like. Some of his photos are already on the walls at theDesk as part of our exhibition that celebrates the SAR’s Arts Month, ‘Hong Kong: Reflections Through Time’. Come along and share the memories of an icon in the city’s photographic world.
