Instagram is a powerful social networking tool that allows users to get their photos and pictures seen by thousands of people within hours of posting them. And one artist in Hong Kong has used its promotional potential incredibly effectively when it comes to getting his work out there. Jeremy Cheung has more than 55,000 followers on Instagram, meaning his photos have been seen by a massive amount of art enthusiasts over the past couple of years.
Cheung is now preparing to talk about ‘the art of Instagram’ and his success in the social networking world with visitors to theDesk co-working and events space in Sai Ying Pun on Friday March 24. Anyone can come along to catch the interactive talk which is, of course, to also feature the young photographer’s artworks, his ‘Instagram journey’ and the evolution of how we combine art and photography with social media. Cheung also talks about the concept behind his works and how best to capture daily life in Hong Kong through the medium of street and architectural photography. Some of his photos are already on the walls at theDesk as part of our exhibition that celebrates the SAR’s Arts Month, ‘Hong Kong: Reflections Through Time’. Don’t miss this talk!
